On Monday 16 November, seven members of Moat’s sales, marketing and new business team spent the day decorating the Moat East Residents’ Association (MERA) resource centre on the High Street in Maldon, Essex.
The project was organised as part of Moat’s commitment for staff to become more involved in Moat communities and to increase knowledge of all areas of the organisation. The amateur decorators chose to freshen up the centre as it has not been decorated in a few years. The centre is staffed by volunteers and the team thought it was a worthy recipient of their community-focussed efforts. One sales and marketing assistant was so dedicated, she helped with the project on her 50th birthday! MERA provided the materials and the team painted the main room and kitchen.
Moat’s MERA resource centre was opened in 1999 and residents can call in for advice and assistance, get involved in Moat as an organisation or make use of the many services on offer. There are also many services available to the residents of the wider Maldon district which include photocopying, laminating, faxing, e-mailing web browsing, basic computer tuition, housing advice and support with letter writing. The centre is manned by volunteer residents and is open between Monday and Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
Moat sales and marketing officer, Sarah Bowden, who helped to organise the project, says; “We had a great day! It was fun to get out of the office and spend some time helping Moat residents in a different way. The MERA resource centre is a fantastic service for those local to Maldon and now it looks brighter and even more welcoming than it did before.”
