Struggling retailers, restaurateurs and hoteliers in Newcastle-under-Lyme are set to benefit from a new initiative launched by Business Link West Midlands (BLWM) and Newcastle Borough Council, aimed at boosting sales and increasing profit and footfall.

The Market Towns Retail Roadshow will visit Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s Civic Offices in Merrial Street on Wednesday, 14 October, from 6pm to 8.45pm.

BLWM has looked at the specific needs of retailers and created a tailored support programme to bolster the high street through expert advice and retailers will get the chance to meet with other businesses in the area and work together as a group to respond to the challenges they face on the High Street.

Cllr. Robin Studd, Cabinet member for regeneration and planning at Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, said: “The borough council is already working with partners to take full advantage of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s reputation as an attractive market town.

“It is working with the North Staffordshire Regeneration Partnership to develop a Strategic Investment Framework for the town centre, which will put the infrastructure in place to bring sustained economic benefits.

“Independent retailers are an extremely important part of the retail mix in Newcastle, so I would encourage as many businesses as possible to take advantage of this free support.”

Tim Williamson, Business Link WM Regional Partnership Manager, added: “Business Link is pleased to bring this exciting new initiative to Newcastle-under-Lyme so that independent retailers can better skill themselves with the business ‘know how’ needed to capitalise on their potential and increase their profit margins and footfall.

“At BLWM we are committed to helping businesses across the region to thrive and believe that the Retail Road show is an amazing opportunity for independent retailers to take advice from industry experts and work towards a better financial future.”
