Donna Foote
A Sanctuary Scotland resident has been recognised for her outstanding work in the local community after winning a Glasgow Community Champion award.
Donna Foote, who lives in Greater Pollock, Glasgow, won the ‘Good Neighbour’ accolade for making a real difference in her community.
Organised by The Evening Times Newspaper, the awards, which are split into six categories, highlight the unsung heroes across the different areas of Glasgow and residents who are committed to improving peoples lives.
Donna, a mum of five, first became active in her community 11 years ago to help improve services for families with children who have learning or behavioural problems.
She has since taken on further responsibilities and is now a voluntary manager of Levernwood Community Hall in Nitshill, organising a weekly youth club for children in Priesthill and overseeing the community newspaper for the South West of Glasgow.
Donna said: “I feel honoured to have received this award and believe every community would be a better place if everyone did their bit for each other.”
Robert Campbell, Sanctuary Scotland’s housing manager,
added: “We are delighted that Donna’s work has been
recognised with this award. She is a true role model for residents
in the community to follow.”
