Residents and staff from Sanctuary Scotland came together for two fantastic clean-up days in Glasgow during August.

Sanctuary Scotland, a member of leading UK housing provider Sanctuary Group, provided funds and refreshments for the two events which took place on the Priesthill Estate in the city.

Organised in conjunction with the Foamslags and Priesthill Tenants and Residents’ Associations, the clean-up days were held to help promote community spirit, strengthen relations and encourage residents to take pride in their community.

Youngsters were entertained by a magician and face painter and a number of them were taken on a visit to the local Silverburn Shopping Centre where they were shown the CCTV facilities and how they work.

Both events proved a huge success with around 50 residents taking part and clearing rubbish from the estate which filled two trailers, 30 bin bags and 30 shopping trolleys.

Robert Campbell, Sanctuary Scotland housing manager, said: “We all have a responsibility to look after the environment and this was our chance to do our bit while bringing the community together.

“It was fantastic to see so many residents taking part and together we can continue to keep the community a place that people are proud to live in.”
