Residents in Hackney are invited to explore the last 60 years of the borough’s history in a new interactive exhibition, ‘The Big Blue Fence Interactive Installation’.
The exhibition showcases the creative work of some of Hackney’s youngest and oldest tenants, with pictures, stories and memorabilia provided by the residents themselves.
This is the latest activity in the Big Blue Fence project, a
collaboration between Immediate Theatre and leading UK housing
provider Sanctuary Housing, which was launched in 2007 in
celebration of the Olympics coming to London in 2012.
The project provides residents living in close proximity to the
Olympic site with an opportunity to express their views about
living in the E9 borough through a programme of creative activities
and events.
Stephanie Killer, Sanctuary Housing’s regional director,
said: “This exhibition is testament to the hard work of
residents and staff over the past two years. The Big Blue Fence
Project encourages community involvement from residents of all ages
and this exhibition in particular explores the lives of different
generations.
“We look forward to continuing the project in partnership
with Immediate Theatre as the Olympics draw closer.”
The exhibition is free and open to the public at Hackney Museum
until 31st August.
