Lincolnshire Police with partner agencies introduces the first Junior Wardens scheme in the South Holland District Council area.
The pioneering scheme is designed to get young volunteers between aged 11 and 17 involved in assisting their community and help to achieve a safer, cleaner and greener neighbourhood.
Longhurst Homes, the Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, Groundwork Lincolnshire, South Holland District Council and Environmental Services have worked together to introduce the scheme and will be supporting the Junior Wardens.
The scheme is currently being piloted on the Royce Road estate, but it is hoped this will be introduced to other areas in the South Holland district.
Projects will include; leading on making the area a cleaner place for residents to live in by helping to tackle issues such as antisocial behaviour, vandalism, graffiti and litter.
In return for their hard work, the volunteers will earn awards and rewards such as organised trips and days out.
Elaine Donaldson, Neighbourhood Officer for Longhurst Homes commented “There has been a huge response to the scheme and very positive comments from the community”.
