Two Soha tenants have won Community Safety Partnership Volunteer Awards.
Rosemary Allen of Henley-on-Thames and Freda Griffiths of Didcot were nominated by Jo Douglas, Senior Neighbourhoods Officer at Soha Housing, for their continued work on improving their local communities. Freda and Rosemary regularly volunteer to help Soha on projects such as clean up days and estate inspections.
They received their awards – from the South Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership (CSP) at the Council offices in Crowmarsh. This was the first of what is to become the Annual CSP Volunteer Awards to recognise volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to community safety.
Chief Executive of Soha Housing, Richard Peacock, says that the landlord fully supports the CSP’s aims to make South Oxfordshire an even safer place to live and work. “Soha has a variety of community initiatives, often working in partnership with other agencies, to support all residents in working for stronger communities. Equally, on the other hand, Soha does not tolerate poor behaviour which prevents our tenants or their neighbours living peacefully in their homes. We take, for example, anti-social behaviour or hate-related harassment reports very seriously and have a track record of dealing with them severely. I’m delighted for both Rosemary and Freda who work steadfastly to help their communities.”
Rosemary responds: “I have made a lot of friends by getting involved in my community!” Freda agreed, adding: “It’s a great pleasure working with all the young people and my neighbours to make my area a better place to be!”
