Local businesses have been eager to sign up for Papworth Trust’s 50k for £50k challenge. 16 teams including Barclays Bank, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Taylor Vinters will walk 50 kilometres through the Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk countryside in just one day. Teams will be competing in a bid to help the Trust in their latest fundraising effort. The walking event will take place between Elveden Estates, Thetford and Burrough Green, Newmarket on Saturday 6 June.

The Environment Agency is supporting the event by producing maps of the route for each team. The Brampton-based agency recently chose Papworth Trust as their charity of choice for all fundraising activities. The walk is also being supported by Reed In Partnership and Taylor Vinters, who are sponsoring check-points.

Each team is challenged to raise a minimum of £2,500 per team. Prizes will be awarded by the Environment Agency for the team that raises the most money, as well as the team that completes the walk in the fastest time.

Mandy Barker, Fundraising manager at Papworth Trust, says: “It’s great to see that the event is being supported by some really well-known names from across the region. We know that times are hard but the money raised will help us develop new services for disabled people.”

If you don’t have a team, but would still like to support Papworth Trust, you can sponsor the Papworth Trust team at www.justgiving.com/funraisers.
