Representatives of Newham Council attended Remembrance Sunday services and laid wreaths at war memorials across the borough in honour of those who have died in conflict.

More than 300 people joined Deputy Mayor of Newham, Councillor Christine Bowden and chief executive Joe Duckworth, for a service at the cenotaph in Central Park, East Ham, following a parade from Newham Town Hall.

Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, and executive director for resources, Bob Heaton, joined a parade from the Royal British Legion in Constance Street, Silvertown, to St Mark's Memorial in Factory Road where a service was held.

Civic Ambassador, Councillor Akbar Chaudhary, attended All Saints West Ham Parish Church in Church Street, Stratford alongside the councils executive director for adults, culture and community, Alan Adams.

Deputy Civic Ambassador, Councillor Paul Sathianesan, and executive director for regeneration, planning and property, Ian Woolford, attended a service at St Luke's Memorial in Tarling Road, Canning Town.

Mayor Sir Robin Wales said: "Remembrance Sunday provides an important opportunity to reflect on the thousands of men and women from around the United Kingdom who put their lives at risk to fight for their countrys causes and died for the freedom of others.

I pay homage to them and those from generations past that died defending others. We must never forget what they have done for us."
