Residents are invited to celebrate 48 years of Nigerian Independence with a flag raising ceremony organised by Newham Council.

On Wednesday, October 1 the Nigerian national flag will be raised at 11.00am outside the main entrance of Newham Town Hall, Barking Road, East Ham, E6. Guests are asked to arrive from 10.45am to assemble on the steps at the front of the Town Hall.

The ceremony should last no more than half an hour and the flag will be flown throughout the day. Everyone is welcome to attend and light refreshments will be served afterwards in the main hall.
