A Plaistow man had to pay a total of £280 for riding a motorcycle in a park.
Newham Council prosecuted John Ward of Newport Avenue after Parks Constabulary officers caught him riding a motorbike in Canning Town Recreation Ground.
On September 5, Stratford Magistrates Court fined Ward £80 plus £200 costs for breaching the Parks and Open Spaces Byelaws.
He also had six penalty points added to his drivers licence for not having motor insurance, thus contravening road traffic legislation.
Executive member for anti-social behaviour, Councillor June Leitch, said: This behaviour is totally unacceptable and completely irresponsible. It is illegal and could endanger peoples lives.
Parks and green spaces are enjoyed by families, many with very young children and it would be absolutely appalling if these motorcyclists were to cause an accident.
This man got his just deserts and I hope that he has learned a lesson.
We will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who flouts the law.
