Council chiefs in Bath have produced a new map to show off the city's famous movie locations.

The Movie Map has been launched to highlight spots used in forthcoming blockbuster The Duchess and BBC series Bonekickers, which was filmed in the area.

It features locations that have appeared almost 40 films and TV series filmed in the area since 1931 including Ghost Train (1931), The Titfield Thunderbolt (1952), The Music Lovers (1969), Remains of the Day (1993) (pictured), Vanity Fair (2003) and Persuasion (2006).

Locations featured include Bath's Royal Crescent, The Circus, The Assembly Rooms and The Pump Room. Surrounding countryside such as Midford, Monkton Combe, Norton St Philip and Freshford also feature along with well-visited areas like Lacock, Castle Combe and Marshfield.

Bath & North East Somerset Councillor, David Hawkins said: "This new map showcases the wealth of memorable productions filmed here in Bath and North East Somerset. It proves just how attractive Bath and its surrounds have been to film-makers over the past century.

"The Council's film office works hard to put the area on the big screen
- this work helps boost tourism and generates a significant amount of revenue."

The map has been put together by Blue Badge Tourist Guide, Jan Hull, using records compiled by Bath Film Office over the years.

Movie Maps have been a success in other parts of the country such as Torquay, which has a Miss Marple map and the Lake District's Beatrix Potter map.

The leaflet is available from Bath's Tourist Information Centre or can be downloaded at http://www.visitbath.co.uk/site/bath-tourism-plus.
