THE family of Olympic medallist Joanne Jackson will help celebrate the Olympic Games handover in Richmond this weekend.
Swimmer Joanne, from Richmond, is still in Beijing, but her family will join Richmondshire District Councils Chairman, members and staff to raise the Olympic flag at 10am on Sunday (August 24), in
the town's historic Friary Gardens.
More than 500 flags have been delivered to local authorities across Britain and embassies around the world to mark the day when London becomes the official Olympic Games Host City.
Councillor Jane Branch, the Council's spokesperson for Healthy Lives, said: "The whole district is really proud of Joannes fantastic achievement in Beijing, so it is right that we ask her family to
help celebrate her success."
