TreeHouse, the national charity for autism education, is one of 320 childrens and young peoples projects across London, currently sharing £613,361 awarded by Capital 95.8s Help a London Child in its second wave of grant allocations for last year.

Capitals Breakfast Show presenter Johnny Vaughan said The positive impact HALC has had on the lives of underprivileged children and young people cannot be overestimated. I've had the opportunity to see first hand the great work that Capital's charity does and how vital it is to Londons little ones. Being a father myself, I realise how crucial it is for charities to get the funding they depend on.

Over a quarter of the grants awarded are to new applicants. The charity has again worked hard last year to ensure Londons voluntary sector is aware of the availability of HALC funding, by attending over 20 Funder Fairs across London.

Throughout April projects across London will be receiving their grants thanks to the efforts of Capitals Help a London Child team and its supporters.

The money will fund a variety of childrens and young peoples projects including: after school groups; holiday play schemes; specialist equipment or support services for groups working with children or young people who have a disability or special need or life-threatening condition or illness; music, arts, drama, sports & youth groups; supplementary schools and cultural activities for children from Londons diverse communities; refuges for families fleeing domestic violence; and homelessness organisations.

TreeHouse runs a school in North London for children and young people with autism and campaigns for better autism education nationally. They undertake research as well as policy and parliamentary work to ensure autism is a national priority, support parents to campaign locally and offer training and consultancy on autism education.

Grant monies come from HALC fundraising events which this year included Capital 95.8s on-air appeal, Capital Rocks!, Archant Press Ball, Marriott Hotels Burns Night and the BUPA Great Capital Run.

Over the past 32 years Help a London Child has raised over £20million and awarded more than 10,000 grants.
