Responding to the Budget statement, Ruth Owen, Chief Executive of national mobility charity Whizz-Kidz said:

"Whizz-Kidz welcomes the 1 billion investment in today’s Budget which demonstrates the Government’s commitment to lift more children out of poverty. Families with a disabled child are 50% more likely to be in debt and we urge the Government to invest further in direct financial support and better services for disabled children in order to meet its target of ending child poverty by 2020.

"We need targeted funding to be directed into a reformed wheelchair service that fully supports the needs of children and young people so that parents are not left to carry the cost of essential mobility equipment"
