Parents of pupils at eight East Sussex schools are to be given on-line access to their children's exam results, reports and attendance records, council bosses have announced.
East Sussex County Council said the new system will allow parents to keep tabs on how their children are doing and see if they need extra help.
The council said the secure internet portal would give access to a wide range of information, including pupils' progress reports, test results and daily attendance information.
Teachers will also have access to the system, allowing them to do more complex work from home.
The SIMS Learning Gateway system is to be piloted in eight schools and if successful will be rolled out across the county.
Councillor Rupert Simmons said: "The SIMS Learning Gateway will transform the way teachers work and how pupil data is accessed across the region.
"It's a really exciting project that also supports our on-going commitment to improving outcomes for children through increasing parental involvement."
The council has signed a contract with Capita to supply all schools across the county with the new secure internet interface system.
Capita spokesman Phil Neal said: "Access to relevant data is controlled by usernames and passwords which means that information is only available to those authorised to view it.
"Parents are restricted to viewing only their own child's attendance and assessment data."
