More from South Bedfordshire District Council

Here's a chance to help promote equality and diversity throughout South Bedfordshire. Members of South Bedfordshire District Council's Equalities Forum are currently encouraging local community groups and volunteer organisations in the district to join them in raising the profile of equalities and diversity in the community.

South Bedfordshire District Council is committed to providing equal opportunities and we are actively working to eliminate discrimination and to promote good relations between people from different groups

The Forum’s goal is to promote equality and the recognition of diversity in the community by providing advice on all six areas of equality: race, disability, gender, age, sexual discrimination and religion or belief.

The Forum does this mainly by providing advice and feedback on the impact of all the council’s policies and modes of service delivery. Where necessary it also recommends reviewing or amending policies and practices and acts as a channel for consultation and liaison with community groups and other agencies.

We would like to invite community groups who represent any of the six areas of equality, and who would like to work with the council in this way, to join our Forum.

You can help us promote equality, improve our services and make sure they reflect the diversity of our community. The Forum holds four meetings a year. Our next one is taking place in December.

For more information about the Equalities Forum or if you would like to represent your organisation on this Forum, please contact us at equalities.mail@southbeds.gov.uk or phone 0845 8496091.
