A week of Action is being launched in Easton focused on the Stapleton Road area and St Judes.

Cllr Peter Hammond, Chair of the Safer Bristol Partnership, said,  "The aim of the week is to further increase pride and hope in the area, as well as build confidence in the authorities.  We will tackle anti-social behaviour in all its forms and hope that the number of reports from the public will actually increase as local people witness that we can make a real difference"

The week of action is being organised by Safer Bristol and the Easton Neighbourhood Partnership Team and is being supported by Bristol City Council, the police and the fire service.

It is part of a larger ongoing campaign to continue to improve the area.  We will be listening to local people's concerns and issues to make sure that we can continue to improve the quality of life locally.

The week, will run from the 9th to the 16th June, will see a high-profile presence from all agencies involved in the project.

Red Cottam the Neighbourhood Manager said  "Come along get involved, find out how you can help us help you to make your neighbourhood better"

Police Sergeant Andy Woodbridge-Nash, Neighbourhood Sergeant, Trinity Road Police Station, said: "This week is all part of the roll-out of Neighbourhood Policing, improving communications and links within our communities.

"A key part of Neighbourhood Policing is working with our partner agencies, including the council and Avon Fire and Rescue and, importantly, the community themselves, to provide complete solutions to their problems.

"We want to increase pride within the local communities by tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.  We know that problems like graffiti, litter and vandalism can really blight an area and increase fear of crime.  We want to work with residents to eliminate this and decrease both crime and fear of crime within Easton."

Community Fire Safety Officer Steve Halstead "We at Avon Fire & Rescue Service see this week of action as a great opportunity to engage with the local community and find out how we can contribute to a making their community safer.

"We want to take advantage of the publicity surrounding the event and the efficiencies of partnership working to raise awareness of Fire Safety in the home and to let everyone know that we offer a Free Home Fire Safety Visit with free smoke alarms to our community all year round"

To coincide with the action, Easton Leisure Centre is offering the publice free swimming on Saturday, June 16th.
