More from Herefordshire Council

Leominster Household Waste Site, run through contractor Severn Waste Services on behalf of Herefordshire Council, has won official praise for its standard of service and customer care.

A letter from Leominster Town Council has praised both the facilities on offer at the site as well as the commitment of staff in helping people who use it.

Councillor Pauline Davies of Leominster Town Council, who regularly uses the site herself, said: “Town councillors all agreed it is a well kept facility which is easy to use and they wanted to thank everyone involved with its operation. We feel it is a marvellous asset to the town as well as helping us to do our bit to help the environment.”

Councillor Phil Edwards, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “We appreciate the support this site has from the public and town councillors.

“Every person who brings items to the site for recycling is helping the county reduce the amount of rubbish being sent to landfill sites. We need to treat our rubbish as another resource which can be recycled and help to reduce our impact on the environment,” he added.

The Household Waste Site in Bridge Street, Leominster, offers facilities for householders to recycle green waste, soil and rubble, scrap metal, glass bottles and jars, cans, cardboard, paper, textiles, batteries, wood and timber, fridges/freezers and televisions.

The site is open from Monday to Sunday, 8am until 6pm, including Bank Holidays, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Mr Ian Barber, marketing director of Severn Waste, said he was pleased the household waste centre at Leominster was so well received as were others in the county. He said: “Our figures from household waste sites in Herefordshire show people are keen to recycle their rubbish and we hope this will continue in the future, especially as the environment becomes more of a global concern.”

Other household waste sites in the county are at Hereford, Ross, Bromyard and Ledbury.
