South Bedfordshire District Council is looking for a member of the public to join its Standards Committee, which ensures that councillors meet the high standards of conduct expected of them.

The Committee meets four times a year and is made up of three South Beds District councillors, a town councillor, a parish councillor and three members of the public. Meetings take place at the District Offices at 7pm and usually last between two to three hours.

The members of the public who sit on the Committee receive a small annual allowance. Reasonable travel and other expenses are also paid.

To be eligible to apply for the vacancy, applicants must be aged over 18, must not be a local government employee or district councillor and should have an understanding of the local area and broader community issues.

Anyone who is interested in applying should call Leslie Manning, Committee Administrator, on 01582 474032 or email leslie.manning@southbeds.gov.uk. The closing date for applications is Friday 23 February.
