A joint intelligence gathering operation between Servite Houses and Edmonton’s Safer Neighbourhood police team resulted in three arrests this morning (16/02/07).

The police used search warrants to perform a proactive drugs raid a house in Edmonton, North London, at 7.30am, where they seized what they believe to be bags of cannabis.

Officers also seized a pepper spray canister and a large, undisclosed amount of cash in this morning’s raid.

The arrests were made on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and possession of a prohibited weapon.

They will be questioned today by officers from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

Servite’s anti-social behaviour team are keen to ensure the local community have been reassured about the police activity. They have been speaking to tenants in the area explaining that the raid had been conducted in response to intelligence gathered by Servite and the police team.

Servite’s north London anti-social behaviour officer Ken Andrew said: “Tackling anti-social behaviour in all its various forms is a daily priority for our team and we will do all we can to make our tenants feel safe and secure in their homes.

“We need the support of our tenants in tackling these and similar issues. If they have any information about anti-social behaviour in their area all they need to do is call 020 8704 4259 where there information will be dealt with by our officers in the strictest confidence.”

Servite Houses has a zero-tolerance policy on anti-social behaviour. We believe all our tenants should be able to live happily and safely in their homes.

Servite has a proven track record of tackling ASB. Prime Minister Tony Blair and Mayor of London Ken Livingston have both visited Servite’s Church Manor Estate in South London last year and praised the comprehensive approach to ASB.

Servite was the first housing association to sign up to the Government’s new Respect for Housing Standard and was also UK housing award finalist for Excellence in Delivering Safer Neighbourhoods.
