A helpful leaflet answering people's questions on a major review of schools in Melton and the Vale of Belvoir is now available.

Parents, pupils, school staff and members of the public are all being urged to read the 'Your Questions Answered' publication which has been produced to tackle any concerns raised.

Nine thousand copies have been published and circulated to all schools today to complement the most recent consultation booklet. The new leaflet is available from Melton and Bottesford libraries and Melton service shop and details are also on the County Council’s website.

The review was launched in February last year to explore potential for reorganising secondary schools in Melton Mowbray and the Vale of Belvoir. It aims to to raise pupils' attainment and achievement, in particular at Key Stage 4 and when pupils complete their GCSEs.

The third stage of consultation is currently taking place and everyone is being enouraged to give their views on the way forward before it closes at the end of this week.

The County Council has secured £28.7million of funding from the Department of Education and Skills to build new or significantly refurbish schools to bring about the transformation.

Gareth Williams, Director of the Children and Young People’s Service, said: "The response received to the consultation so far has been excellent and we are very encouraged by what we have been told.

"It is vital everyone understands the changes that will happen as part of reorganisation and I hope that this leaflet will reassure residents and also answer their questions."

Further information about the review is available on the County Council’s website at:  www.leics.gov.uk/meltonvob
