Have your say on the future of Colchester

Colchester Borough Council is asking residents and businesses to come forward and have their say on how they think the borough should develop in the future.

The Council's Local Development Framework (LDF) is addressing a range of issues such as; housing growth targets, creating new jobs, dealing with the impact of climate change, and improving 'green' transport.

The LDF will play a strategic role in helping Colchester to become a prestigious regional centre by 2021 by enhancing local services and public transport, regenerating the local area and protecting the local countryside, villages and coastline.

Residents and businesses are being asked to complete a survey on how they would tackle these challenges and how they feel the council should respond,

in the forthcoming issue of the Courier Magazine.

Councillor Elizabeth Blundell, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Strategic Transportation, said: "This survey really gives residents the chance to have their say on how they feel the town can develop into a prestigious regional centre.  Not only can they voice an opinion but it also gives the council an opportunity to hear what local people really think and want."

Residents can also find a copy of the survey on line at www.colchester.gov.uk, in the Customer Service Centre at Angel Court, and in all local libraries. Alternatively call 01206 282473/6.
