Colchester's Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Richard and Jacky Gower will be firing the starting pistol at this year's Run4Fun .

The annual event is organised by Birkett Long Solicitors and raises money for the Mayor's charities. This year the charities which will benefit are The Army Benevolent Fund, Colchester and Tendring Community Trust, Headway, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and Girlguiding Essex North East.

Around 350 people have already signed up to take part in the 2.5 mile run through Castle Park, which takes place on Thursday 7 September at 6pm.
People can still enter on the night or before the event by contacting Birkett Long Solicitors on 01206 217605 or by emailing run4fun@birkettlong.co.uk

Last year the event raised £7,500 in sponsorship and entry fees, bringing the total raised over the past four years to almost £30,000.

Cllr Gower said: "The Run4Fun has proved to be a real success in previous years and we are hoping this year will be the best yet. If you're yet to sign up, don't worry, there's still time, and needless to say the money raised will be put to very good use by our chosen charities."
