A London-based housing association has chosen a key front line group of staff as its Team of the Year 2006.
ASRA Greater London Housing Association, part of the LHA-ASRA Group, has selected housing services assistants Shahina Begum, Sonia Ross and Androulla Tofarides as the organisation’s top team for their work in providing consistently high levels of front line customer care.
The team is the first contact point for tenants calling into ASRA and they deal with numerous telephone calls on a daily basis, ranging from urgent repair requests through to reports of alleged domestic violence.
Between them they speak a number of languages and are therefore able to interpret problems and issues before dealing with them straight away or making sure they get to the right specialist housing officer.
As well as tenant calls, the team is responsible for setting up effective administration systems and providing support for three other sections.
Top team members Shahina, Sonia and Androulla, said: "It was a real shock to win the ASRA Team of the Year award but quite honestly – we think we deserve it!
"We’re the first point of contact for ASRA tenants and you could say we’re the smiley, happy faces of the association.
"Helping people is what we’re here to do. It motivates us and it’s great to know that we are part of a very effective team.”
Asit Acharya, ASRA Managing Director, said: "I would like to congratulate Shahina, Sonia and Androulla on becoming our Team of the Year 2006.
"It’s so important to have a high quality first contact point for tenants, and for problems and issues to be sorted out quickly and easily.
"They obviously enjoy their jobs and this comes over to everyone who contacts ASRA. Well done and keep up the good work!”
The association also runs an employee of the quarter award and the individual winners and each top team member receives a £25 gift voucher.
ASRA Greater London Housing Association manages over 3,000 homes.
