The ODPM, City & Guilds, NRS Training and the West Midlands and Neighbourhood Resource Centre are coming together to celebrate the centres training successes, launch new initiatives, look at future training opportunities and present several NVQ awards on the 30th November.

Over the last 12 months West Midlands Wardens and Neighbourhood Resource Centre has delivered training in partnership with the ODPM, City and Guilds and many other key partners to warden schemes across the region.

At the recent National Wardens Conference in September the West Midlands Wardens and Neighbourhood Resource Centre had the largest group of NVQ candidates receiving awards from the ODPM compared to other regions, with 8 candidates receiving NVQ level 2 in Community Wardening and 4 candidates receiving their NVQ Assessors qualification.

The Awards Ceremony will follow a morning of presentations and discussions aimed at raising awareness of the West Midlands Wardens and Neighbourhood Resource Centre, to launch new initiatives and to look at future training programmes for wardens and warden managers. Key figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Henry Hislop and from City & Guilds, Myra Wall will be speaking at the event as well as presenting the NVQ awards.

The NVQ candidates and Assessors are from Warden Schemes across the Midlands area; Wyre Forest Housing Association, Coventry City Council and Castle Vale Community Housing Association.

Jas Bains, Chair of the West Midlands Wardens and Neighbourhood Resource Centre Strategic Co-ordination Group said: "The main focus of this event is to celebrate the centre’s achievements during the last year including the NVQ training successes and look at future opportunities and initiatives that will keep the Resource Centre at the fore front of local training.”
