More from Riverside Group

Thanks to the Riverside Group, children and staff at Newsham Park Pre-School in Liverpool  were celebrating more than just the close of another school year at the end of term party as 12 months ago, they were not sure if the school had any future.

In November 2004, Newsham Park Pre School was running out of money fast and there was a real fear that it would have to close before Christmas.  However, with a donation of £2,350, the Riverside Group stepped in to enable it to stay open until the end of January 2005.

The Riverside Group’s Community Investment team then went on to assist the school with business planning advice, accessing other sources of funding and encouraging other agencies to get involved to help the school stay open .

Commenting, Gail Manning, headteacher at Newsham Park Pre School said:
"We want to thank the Riverside Group, not just for its generous donation, but also the guidance and support it has given to us.  With its help we secured £5,000 for brand new toilet facilities for our staff and pupils.  This is great news for staff, children and parents because it means that in the future we should hopefully be able to stay open throughout the school day and not close for lunch, whereas last year it was doubtful whether we would be open at all! We are really grateful to the Riverside Group and hope to continue working with them in the future.”

Commenting, Sheila Large, Director of Riverside Enterprise said:

"A massive part of regeneration involves investing in worthwhile schemes that benefit the community. Early Years schools such as Newsham Park Pre-School offer a vital service to our tenants and community and we are delighted that with our help it has remained open and will improve its facilities. "
