South Staffs PCT Lifestyle Team
South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust’s (PCT) Lifestyle Team was on hand yesterday (Tuesday 8 December) to offer lifestyle advice to Christmas shoppers in Lichfield.
The team gave over a hundred shoppers in Tesco supermarket information about how the service can help them and how people are already benefiting from their help.
Pauline Evans, Lifestyle Service Manager, South Staffordshire
PCT, said:
“We all know that at this time of year it is difficult to get
motivated to make changes to your lifestyle.
“However, it is more important than ever that we all think about eating healthily, drinking less alcohol, quitting smoking and doing just a small amount of activity, that fits around our busy lives and how this will help us all to look and feel better, give us more energy, reduce stress levels and put people in control of their lives – as well as help us to live a longer and healthier life.
“We all know that these life changes seem difficult to make, but they don’t have to be – which is why the PCT is offering Life Style Advisors, free of charge.”
The service provides people with a personal tailored step-by-step programme to make lifestyle changes to fit with their lives and to keep them motivated.
The team is taking referrals directly from patients and the public, as well as via a referral from their GP and works closely with local authorities, voluntary organisations and a range of primary care providers to offer a wide range of support that best suit individual’s personal needs and tackle a number of health issues.
