The Department of Energy and Climate Change recently announced a consultation on the way in which smart meters will be rolled out.  We are pleased to see signs of progress on this matter after a long period of seeming inaction, and will be responding to the consultation in due course.  We shall be  focussing on the need to ensure that this once in a life time opportunity to take advantage of new technology to provide real information to consumers, to help them understand and manage their energy use, is not lost.

In the meantime, Onzo  recently responded to consultations announced in February by DECC.  They covered two energy efficiency initiatives, the Heat and Energy Saving Strategy and the Community Energy Saving Programme.  We welcomed the objectives of both programmes but expressed the belief that the proposals lacked a properly organised framework, and recommended four areas of action including the use of important tools to encourage behaviour change.
