Digital cities conference to be held in Salford, the proposed home of mediacity:uk
Leading figures in the world of digital futures will descend on the proposed home of mediacity:uk for the two-day WorkTech North conference in June.
The conference will explore how digital technology is driving the architecture of the physical workplace and the emergence of digital cities around the world.
Held for the first-time outside London at Salford Quays, the WorkTech conference will enable delegates to envision how the digital architecture of the future will change how and where we work.
WorkTech North takes place over two days, Thursday June 28 and Friday June 29 2007 at The Lowry, Salford Quays, Greater Manchester. The event is produced in association with mediacity:uk and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
Global authority on technology cities and Senior Professor at MIT, Michael Joroff, Jose Carlos Arnal of Zaragoza’s mediacity, author of Creative Office Philip Ross and Head of Workplace at the BBC Chris Kane, will be amongst those speaking on a wide range of topics aimed at better understanding the working environment of the future.
The two-day conference will be split into master-es, lectures, exhibitions and panel discussions.
The master-es will be the dominant feature of day one, bringing delegates together for interactive sessions on creative spaces, urban planning, intelligent buildings and workspace for a digital generation.
A more formal structure will follow on day two where keynote speakers and panel discussions will examine subjects in greater depth.
The concept of, and the partnerships involved in media cities around the world will be discussed followed by a look at the impact of new technology and how it is becoming integrated and synonymous with everyday life.
Following this will be a panel discussion on Creating the Digital Workplace by Chris Kane, Head of Workplace at the BBC, Carla Picardi, one of the original eight people who created Canary Wharf, Clive Wilkinson, one of the top workplace architects in the world and Frank Duffy of DEGW, a leading international strategic design consultancy.
Finally David Firth, consultant and writer specialising in the psychology of human change, communication and in corporate cultures, will talk to delegates about how organisations must go about getting people to change.
