Over the next six months we’ll bring you exclusive news and expert advice, as we tackle the issues and obstacles you face in our new Retrofit Best Practice campaign and award.

Here’s how 24housing will help you get to grip with retrofit.

Social landlords are at the forefront of the retrofit movement, and you are leading where others will follow with some innovative, cost-effective and planet-saving projects across the UK.  But the challenge ahead is vast. To reach targets set by the Climate Change Act 2008, 26 MILLION homes need to be refurbished to near zero carbon by 2050.

We have the support of a whole houseful of serious players in the retrofit arena, from energy and environmental organisations and housing bodies, to political parties, charities and individuals – all keen to add their knowledge and opinion on the retrofit challenge for social landlords. And if you’re not sure exactly what that challenge is; we’ve asked Andrew Eagles from Sustainable Homes to spell it out in an exclusive interview to launch the series.

We aim to equip you with the information – and inspiration - you need to evolve your retrofit strategy.  And if your organisation already has a healthy approach to retrofit, now is the time to share your achievements and inspire others through these pages and online at www.24dash.com , as 24housing invites you to enter your flagship projects in our Retrofit Best Practice Award 2010.
