Public sector payments specialist Allpay has announced that it
is in discussions with National Lottery operator Camelot with a
view to collecting bill payments through its network of
terminals.
The National Lottery Commission is currently considering an
application from Camelot to offer commercial services including
housing rent and council tax through its 27,500 outlets across the
UK.
Allpay Managing Director Tony Killeen said: "Allpay’s mission
is always to look for ways to improve what we offer and add value
to our clients and their customers.
"This is another exciting step forward for Allpay and one of a
series of innovations we will deliver for our clients this
year.
"Bill payers will benefit from having many more places to pay as
well as a speedier payment experience using the new
terminals."
Allpay says it was particularly attracted by the fact that, through
running this service, Camelot will make additional contributions to
the National Lottery 'Good Causes'.
National Lottery Commission Chief Executive Mark Harris said:
“We encourage innovation in the operation of the National
Lottery for the benefit of players or good causes.
"We will examine these proposals carefully in light of our
statutory duties to protect players and safeguard the National
Lottery.”
