August 2010
Finally able to break his silence, Peter Marsh takes to the stand this month for an exclusive in-depth interview – his first since the announcement that the Tenant Services Authority ‘is toast’. Talking exclusively to Jon Land, Mr Marsh refuses to be drawn in to public mud-slinging in the wake of Grant Shapps’ loudly voiced criticism and mounts a robust defense of the TSA.
We also have exclusive reaction from another victim of the governmental axe, the National Housing Planning Advice Unit. This month’s Profile personality is former NHPAU Chair Peter Williams, who speaks candidly about the sudden closure of the advisory body on housing affordability which was created in the wake of the Barker Review in 2004.
With the new coalition delivering some very anti-social messages to Misters Marsh and Williams, we focus this issue on the perennial problem of how social landlords should best tackle anti-social behaviour. Kate Murray looks at some new research which suggests that although the joined-up approach is delivering measurable results, casting the net wider to include specialist agencies in the ASB gang would hit the spot even more effectively – if you can get those agencies on board. ASB is the topic for this month’s Take Two best practice slot and we investigate the latest in lone worker safety.
Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up of the NFA Awards 2010 – you’ll find your moment of glory in this month’s special awards supplement, free with this issue of 24housing.
