July 2010
Events have – as expected – overtaken us this month. As we went to press, an announcement about the future of the Tenant Services Authority was imminent. And sure enough, housing minister Grant Shapps declared the TSA to be “toast”. The timing may have been unfortunate, but you’ll still find plenty of reaction and opinion on what most of the sector rightly believed to be inevitable. Peter Marsh declined to refer to the future of the TSA in his column this month, but we’ll have a full and exclusive interview with the Chief Executive in the August issue of 24housing.
The number of rough sleepers always increases over the summer months and homelessness is the main theme for this months’ issue. We look at the race to end rough sleeping in London in time for the 2012 Olympics, and ask if the marathon effort is on track. Pathmeads explain why temporary accommodation should no longer be a tool of last resort in InHouse and Take Two focuses on the issue of overcrowding.
See you at the NFA Awards in Manchester on July 15th – or look out for the special winners’ supplement in the next issue of 24housing.
