June 2010

In this issue

After all the political excitement post May the 6th, it was a relief to put this issue of the magazine to bed. Great fun, though, to be an editor during such an historic moment, as the prevarications led painfully to the formation of an unlikely coalition. Cameron and Clegg are already proving to be interesting bedfellows, with Cameron no doubt hogging the duvet. So what will this civil partnership mean for social housing? As Grant Shapps takes on the job we ask him about his plans, and big hitters from the sector share their views – and hopes – for the new hand-in-hand administration.

June is a big month for 24housing, as we announce the winner of our first award and conclude our Retrofit Best Practice Campaign with a look at how you can help your residents make sure your hard work doesn’t go to waste. Click on www.24dash.com/campaigns to find out who has triumphed.

Tenant involvement is a common theme this month. Landlords are getting creative and constructive, and we see for ourselves how thinking outside the box is putting tenants in the picture on a London estate. Forget GMTV – we’re switched on to Grahame Park TV!

The 24housing team is heading for Harrogate this month, for the CIH Annual Conference and Exhibition. Come and see us there, and share your thoughts on the new government; the magazine and the football. We’ll be on stand 129 in Hall B.
