December 2009
So how was 2009 for you? Are you still dizzy from the housing ministerial merry-go-round? Has Kickstart given your stalled projects a kick up the backside? Are you hoarse following The National Conversation? A year in housing is never dull. Challenging – yes. Frustrating – frequently. But never dull. This month, 24housing asks some of our regular contributors to nominate the person – or event – they feel has been the most influential in the social housing world this year. The line-up is pretty much as you would expect – but there are a few surprises.
The Recession continued to make a huge impact in 2009, and housing professionals are on the front line when it comes to dealing with the repercussions. But to what extent will efforts made today affect the scale of homelessness and other housing-related issues in the years to come? We investigate housing’s SOS.
This month we also welcome Sarah Webb, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, to our lead opinion column, The Voice, meet Richard Ennis, the man with the purse-strings at the Homes and Communities Agency and get some tips on regeneration consultation from Manpreet Dillon at Kensington Housing Trust .
How was 2009 for 24housing? Exhilarating. Challenging. Inspiring. But never dull.
