Children Centre Support Worker

SWIM Recruitment is urgently seeking a Childrens Centre Support Worker, to begin work in the Lancashire area. The Job Spec can be found below, but in addition to this the successful applicant must have at least 6 months experience working with Children, including Outreach experience, as well as being able to demonstrate a CRB check successfully completed within the last 12 months.
CORE VALUES AND JOB PURPOSE:
• To provide support and advice to families and children attending the children's centre, either through group support, individual support or support within the home environment.
• To provide information, guidance and support to families and children relating to the core offer of services available from the children's centre.
• To work alongside other agencies to deliver services to parents and children from the children's centre.
CORE TASKS:
• To work directly both individually and with groups to provide information, guidance and support and in particular with parents of young children in order to further the children's centre objectives.
• To listen and work sensitively with parents in culturally appropriate ways.
• To facilitate discussions to assist parents in identifying their concerns.
• To empower parents and carers of young children, by enabling then to participate in activities within the children's centre.
• To offer appropriate practical support to families who have expressed particular needs e.g. accompanying them to an appointment etc.
• To encourage an awareness of the importance of play and child development.
• To review and evaluate progress on a regular basis and provided written and/or verbal reports to the Extended Services Team Leader
• To attend appropriate training courses.
• To maintain confidentiality.
• To ensure equal opportunity and inclusion within all areas of work.
• To work along side partner agencies to promote parenting skills.
• To support hard to reach families in accessing services via the children's centre.
• To signpost parents and children as and when appropriate.
• To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required within the general terms of the job description.
