Adult Services are going through a transformation in working practice based on the requirements of “Putting People First” moving away from managed assessment and care provision toward prevention, enablement and personalisation. This agenda is being developed alongside a strategy for safeguarding vulnerable people through improved safeguarding procedures and implementation of the Mental Capacity Act The role of the policy team is to develop policy documents which will support the transformation programme through providing guidance on the principles and standards of service provision to staff, managers, providers, carers and service users Policies provide the framework of good practice for staff . They are to be referred to on a routine basis and where needed for the clarification of complex issues and the resolution of conflict and complaints.
The role of the Policy Officer Development of Policy within Adult Services is seen as a partnership between policy and operational managers and therefore the policy officer will work with managers and practitioners in Adult Services and with colleagues in health , community services and the independent and third sector to initiate new and develop existing policy initiatives where needed.
To apply for this role you must be education to degree level qualification and have relevant experience and a substantial period of working in the Social Care or Health sector, working in a multi – agency environment Working and negotiating at a management level.
