Finance Manager

£350per day. 3-6 month contract.

We have a position for a Finance Manager within a Local Authority co-ordintating a team of 2 – 16 finace staff. The role involves managing a team providing a range of accounting, budgeting, financial planning and related accountancy functions to the cheif finance officer. Its critical that all applicants have experience of an environmental directorate within a local authority.

Main duties:
•To be able to provide financial management support service to budget holders and elected members.
•To take responsibility for providing sound financial advice to managers, including at the most senior level and ensure that effective and proactive support is available and provided to front line services at all times.
• Be able to advise budget managers about complex budget and accounting issues clearly, communicating effectively in a way that non-financial staff can understand.
•To manage the closing of accounts process, ensuring timetables are designed and met and standards are achieved.
•Liaise with the external auditor on matters relating to the work of the section and respond within the specified timeframes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with local authority experience and who are able to demonstrate leadership and supervisory qualities. Applicants must be effective communicators able to make timely decisions based on the analysis of relevant information. Candidates are required to be members of a CCAB body and have previous experience of working within environmental or transport agencies. The role is paying £350 a day for 3 -6 months.
