A British man accused of killing his six-year-old son after he leapt off a hotel balcony with him has been divorced by his wife, it was reported today.

John Hogan plunged 50ft from the fourth floor of a hotel in Crete with Liam and his daughter Mia, then aged two, during a family holiday last year.

He had allegedly been arguing with his wife just moments before he jumped with the couple's two children on August 15.

Liam died after suffering massive head injuries in the fall, but Mia survived after breaking her arm.

Hogan, 32, who ran a tiling business in Bristol, suffered a broken arm and leg.

He was later charged with murder and attempted murder, and is awaiting trial in Greece.

His wife Natasha, 34, was this week granted a decree absolute at Bristol County Court, which formalised the couple's divorce, according to the News of the World.

They had been married for six years. She is also thought to be in the process of selling the family home in Bradley Stoke, North Bristol.

Hogan, who has been on suicide watch since the fall, is expected to stand trial later this year.

His lawyer has previously said he will argue that he was in a "state of confusion" at the time of the incident.

No-one was available to comment about the divorce at the house today.
