Go Away Galloway

Published by Yvonne Hutchinson on Thursday, August 23rd, 2012 at 20:58 pm

When Marsha Singh, former Bradford West MP, passed away last month I was genuinely saddened.  I first met Marsha back in the 1980s when he was a good friend of my son’s father and just one of a large group of left-wing comrades.  I had limited interest in politics back then but feigned curiosity for my boyfriend’s sake.

Years later, Marsha together with other Bradford MPs supported me in establishing an award winning substance misuse charity that successfully campaigned for legislative changes in 1999. Having a local, home-grown MP in touch with the ordinary folk genuinely made a difference.  What a stark contrast he was to the awful, self-centred, self-publicist who has taken his seat!  And if anyone had been uncertain about the real character behind the media stunts of Mr Galloway, his sickening and ill-advised blundering comments on rape have exposed the true nature of the man.

With northern towns and cities working hard to tackle the grooming and raping of vulnerable girls, the last thing we need is a buffoon like Galloway around sending out all the wrong messages.

Disgruntled Bradfordians may have brought Galloway in as a protest vote against an increasingly out of touch  Labour Party but let’s hope they quickly realise their error and send him packing before he does any more damage to the city.
